Report Tree Branch on Power Line
Tree branches and limbs on power lines can lead to power outages.
At UI, it’s our responsibility to safely and reliably maintain the power grid that carries electricity within the 17 towns and cities that we serve. This includes the regular inspection and maintenance of trees and vegetation that might interfere with the safe, reliable operation of the electric distribution system.
However, maintenance of the utility service line that is installed from the utility pole to the house is the responsibility of the property owner. The property owner is encouraged to hire a contractor who is qualified to perform this type of tree work which can help prevent storm-related power outages.
If the property owner cannot hire a contractor who is qualified to work near electrical service lines, UI can temporarily de-energize the service line so that another contractor or individual can safely perform the work. Contact UI at least 5 days ahead of the scheduled work.
