Shared Clean Energy Facility Program

Shared Clean Energy Facility Program

Shared Clean Energy Facility (SCEF) Projects provide locally generated, renewable, low-carbon clean energy. The energy from these clean energy projects will benefit all of us in Connecticut for generations. To share the benefits of these new facilities more directly, selected customers will receive a credit on their electric bill as part of the benefits of a local clean energy project.

Over eight years, we plan to add 65 MW of locally generated, renewable, low-carbon energy to the electric grid.

Why Clean Energy?

Clean energy contributes to a cleaner and healthier environment for the community. This program extends the benefits of clean energy to customers who otherwise may not be able to install clean energy generation for their homes or businesses.

Program benefits:

As these projects become operational, we'll select eligible customers to enroll as subscribers to receive a benefit from a local project. Subscribers will get a fixed monthly bill credit of $0.025 multiplied by their average monthly electric usage. This credit will last up to 20 years.

How can I participate in the program?

Credits will be issued to customers unable to install clean energy generation, including residential low to moderate-income customers, low-income service organizations, landlords of affordable housing facilities, small business customers, commercial, municipal, and state customers, and residential customers with homes unsuitable for solar PV. See definitions of these eligible customer types.

UI may select up to 90% of the participants in the program, and all customers who meet the requirements are encouraged to submit an online Subscriber Enrollment Form. If selected, you will be notified of your subscription and all other associated details.
