Avangrid, UI, SCG, CNG Employees Volunteer Over 10,000 Hours in 2024

Reinforcing Commitment to Supporting Local Nonprofits and Community Organizations 

 

Companies Support Over 100 Charitable Organizations, including American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, Connecticut FoodShare, and The Diaper Bank of Connecticut  

 

ORANGE, Conn. — February 10, 2025 —Avangrid, Inc., a leading energy company and member of the Iberdrola Group, along with its subsidiaries United Illuminating (UI), Southern Connecticut Gas (SCG), and Connecticut Natural Gas (CNG), proudly announces that their Connecticut-based employees volunteered over 10,000 hours in 2024. Additionally, UI, SCG, and CNG collectively contributed more than $353,000 to support over 100 nonprofit organizations across the state. These efforts reflect the companies’ ongoing commitment to enhancing local communities and address critical needs within their service areas.

In 2024, employees across Connecticut worked with nonprofit organizations on a range of initiatives. These included blood donations with the American Red Cross, school supply drives for Comfort Kits for Children, homebuilding with Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County, and serving meals to those experiencing homelessness at the Columbus House. Volunteers also mentored students through Leadership, Education, Athletics in Partnership (LEAP), donated supplies for families in need at the Salvation Army of New Haven, assisted in diaper distribution with the Diaper Bank of Connecticut. Additional supported organizations included the Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen, Saint Martin de Porres, Connecticut Science Center, Manes & Motions Therapeutic Riding Center, and Sacred Heart University’s Discovery Science Center & Planetarium, among others.

The Avangrid Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Avangrid, amplified employees’ work in their communities through the Energized for Good program. Through this initiative, the Avangrid Foundation donates $15 per employee volunteer hour to qualifying organizations, up to 100 hours per employee.
