Main Activities During Reporting Period
Continued preparation and review of the following Project-related documents/reports for submittal to CTDEEP:
- Revised English Station Boiler 1-12 Environmental Media Investigation Summary Report.
- Revised English Station Western Side Environmental Media Investigation Summary Report.
- English Station – Boiler #13 Interim Remedial Measures PCB Remedial Action Report.
Perform required inspections of:
- Erosion and sediment controls (re)approved under CT DEEP permit number GSN003422 on a monthly frequency.
- Eight Significant Environmental Hazard (SEH) areas on a bi-weekly frequency.
Future Activities
Submit to CTDEEP:
- Revised English Station Western Side Environmental Media Investigation Summary Report.
- Revised English Station Boiler 1-12 Environmental Media Investigation Summary Report.
- English Station – Boiler #13 Interim Remedial Measures PCB Remedial Action Report.
- Revised Plans and Specifications for Phase 1 Soil Remediation.
Site Security
Two trespassing incidents occurred in August 2024, both were reported to DEEP. The first incident (8/4/24) involved two individuals who gained access to the site by swimming through the Mill River from Grand Avenue and around the reinforced security fence. Notifications were made to the New Haven Police Department and CTDEEP. The second incident (8/25/24) involved one individual who gained access by climbing over the barbed wire security fence along Grand Ave. The follow-up site inspection did not identify indications that the building had been entered. Modifications to the security fence and site signage are being evaluated.
Continue to maintain the security measures put in place by, and acquired from, the current property owners and as upgraded by UI.
